Application Effects of the Improved Mattress Press and Roll Machine

Based on the identified issues, the mattress press and roll machine was improved by adding a belt pre-press mechanism, as shown in Figure 3. The application effects after the improvement are significant, mainly reflected in the following points:

  1. Pre-pressing the Mattress Before Entering the Main Roll: The belt pre-press mechanism, with its left-low and right-high inclined entrance, gradually increases the compression of the mattress springs before rolling, solving the problem of the original press plate mechanism damaging the mattress spring's nonwoven fabric bag. This adjustment ensures that the mattress is pre-pressed uniformly before entering the mattress press and roll machine, thereby preventing fabric damage.

  2. Synchronizing the Pre-press Belt and Fabric Rolling Speed: The speed of the belt pre-press mechanism is controlled to match the speed at which the nonwoven fabric is being rolled, ensuring that the line speed of both the top and bottom surfaces of the mattress is the same. This results in uniform vertical compression of the mattress springs, addressing the issue of spring tilt during dragging. This synchronization between the belt pre-press mechanism and the mattress press and roll machine improves the overall performance of the system.

  3. Continuous Mattress Feeding: The belt pre-press mechanism runs continuously, allowing mattresses to be fed onto the feeding platform for continuous pre-pressing. This ensures that the mattress press and roll machine can operate without stopping, allowing continuous rolling and improving production efficiency. By eliminating the need to stop for feeding, the continuous operation of both the mattress press and roll machine and the belt pre-press mechanism maximizes throughput.

  4. Stable Rolling Quality: According to feedback from the rolling production department, there have been no further incidents of the nonwoven fabric bag being damaged during the rolling process. The improvements made with the belt pre-press mechanism have ensured that mattress compression is uniform, preventing the damage that was previously caused by improper pre-pressing.

This paper focuses on addressing the issues of nonwoven fabric bag damage due to mattress spring compression and the low efficiency of stop-start operations. By designing the belt pre-press mechanism, these problems were solved, improving both the production quality and efficiency of the mattress press and roll machine. The integration of the belt pre-press mechanism into the mattress press and roll machine provides both a practical solution and a theoretical framework for similar equipment in the industry.
